ADF (NPO Aoyama Design Forum) is pleased to present "Sumi Trails" by Ryuichi Fujisawa, an ink artist, as "ADF Art Gallery Project Vol.18" from Monday, November 28 to Saturday, December 3, 2022. We hope you will enjoy the world of Ryuichi Fujisawa, an ink artist who expresses his inspiration from the beautiful nature of Japan in his bamboo brush strokes.
Ryuichi Fujisawa spent his 20s in Paris as a fashion designer, and after returning to Japan he worked as an event producer, mainly for fashion brands. While in France, he became aware of his Japanese identity, which eventually led him to the Japanese tea ceremony and ink painting.
Ryuichi Fujisawa Profile
Fujisawa was born in Hokkaido in 1952, graduated from Kuwasawa Design School in 1972 and moved to France. After working as a freelance designer for Y.S. Laurent, Givenchy, Chanel and Lanvin, he worked as an assistant designer for J.L. Sherrer for three years. In 1996, he became an event producer for Lanvin, and in 2006 he started doing ink painting.
His first solo exhibition was in Aoyama, Tokyo, and Kanazawa in the fall of 2016.
