Oku-Noto Triennale 2023
The Oku-Noto Triennale 2023, a contemporary art festival, will be held in the city of Suzu in Ishikawa Prefecture starting Saturday, September 23, 2023. The festival will be supported by artists from Japan and abroad who will engage with Suzu and express their works rooted in the region. Contemporary art created through the collaboration of artists, citizens and supporters is in harmony with the climate of Oku-Noto, creating an experience of time and space that touches all five senses.

21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa "Alex Da Corte Fresh Hell"
The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa will present the exhibition "Alex Da Corte Fresh Hell" from April 29 (Saturday/vacation) to September 18 (Monday/vacation) 2023.
Alex da Corte is an artist known for his works in which he plays with objects and icons that are familiar to him while deconstructing and reconstructing their original meaning. His work is characterized by drawing inspiration from a variety of sources, including TV, films, comics, and animation, as well as popular culture, consumer culture, art history, and design, and employing a variety of media, including video, sculpture, painting, and installation, while probing the visual culture of the American middle class.


In all his techniques, he pays close attention to vivid colors and shapes, and his extensive knowledge of art history and delicate, unique sensibilities transform familiar motifs into rich and elegant assemblages. While it has a charm that attracts people, it also appeals to human emotions that cannot be expressed in words, such as loneliness and anxiety, and has a charm that makes people dance not in a rationally organized realm but in a strange world of delusions.
This exhibition, the first by Alex da Corte to be held at an Asian art museum, will feature a total of 11 video installation works, including his recent works.

A wide range of art from the 1980s to the 2010s is exhibited while introducing new collections in 2022. In 2020, the National Museum of Art, Osaka acquired Takashi Murakami's paintings for the first time. 727 FATMAN LITTLE BOY (2017) is one of Murakami's most representative series 727, which he has produced since 1996, and is one of the largest Murakami works in Japan. On this occasion, which will be exhibited for the first time in Japan at this collection exhibition, five early works by Murakami, which are either in the collection of the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo or have been entrusted, will also be exhibited. Other new collections include Minako Nishiyama's paintings that were also collected last year, Osamu Kokufu's early works with vehicle motifs, and German Astrid Klein's photographic works, which were the first museum collections in Japan. is.
