The National Art Center, Tokyo "Distant Present: Universal / Remote"
The exhibition title Universal / Remote references prevailing conditions in the 21st century as capital and data flow freely on a global scale. The National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo ¡ÈDoes the Future Sleep Here?
¡½¡½Revisiting the museum¡Çs response to contemporary art after 65 years¡É

The National Museum of Western Art has collected and exhibited Western art works from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. This exhibition is the first attempt since the museum
opened in 1959 to collaborate with contemporary artists on a large scale.
Kojiro Matsukata, who built the Matsukata Collection that became the basis of the National Museum of Western Art, collected a huge number of artworks in order to show real Western art to young Japanese painters. In the 65th year since the museum opened, the museum looked back on its origins and envisioned its future, and this question was born.
"Have the exhibition rooms of the National Museum of Western Art become a space where future artists can be born and raised?" This is a question that the National Museum of Western Art asks itself, and at the same time, a question that it asks the participating artists. And it is a question that we would like to consider together with all of you who visit the exhibition rooms.
Through works created by contemporary artists active in Japan and abroad inspired by works in the collection of the National Museum of Western Art, and works that question the significance of the place called a museum, you will be able to see how the artists look at the National Museum of Western Art and its collection, and what issues they are raising. In addition, about 70 works by artists who have made their mark in the history of Western art, such as Monet, Cezanne, and Pollock, are also on display. We will explore new possibilities for the museum through works created in the past and works created in the present. This is a must-see exhibition for learning about the contemporary and future art scene.

Tokyo Photographic Art Museum " Remembrance beyond images"
What kind of ¡Èmemories¡É have people strived to capture through photography and video? Asides from snapshots and documentaries¡¡whose purpose are to record events and happenings onsite, attempts have also been made to convey unseen memories by stirring the emotions and sensations of viewers, and expanding their imagination beyond realms of both time and space. While employing the characteristic of photography/video as that which serve to connect the memories of others or images engraved in time with the viewer's own memories, artists each approach their work and practice in truly diverse ways.
Taking as its starting point SHINOYAMA Kishin¡Çs propositions raised in Dueling Theories of Photography (1976) and leading up to themes such as aging society and artificial intelligence (AI), this exhibition introduces more than 70 new works by seven groups of eight high-profile artists from Japan, Vietnam, and Finland, including those never exhibited in Japan.

Exhibition organized with the collaboration of the Musée d¡ÇArt Moderne de Paris, Paris Musées

Paris, Tokyo, and Osaka: collections from three museums in these cities, each of which has nurtured its own unique culture, will come together. The commonalities among the works included in each of the freely conceived trios are various, including subject matters, motifs, colors and shapes, materials, and the context in which the works were created, regardless of the era, school, or Eastern/Western backgrounds. The exhibition consists of 34 trios of more than 150 works, including paintings, sculptures, prints, drawings, photographs, designs, and videos by 110 artists, presented in seven chapters according to themes and concepts to propose a new way of viewing modern art from the early 20th century to the present day and to highlight its appeal.

Art Gallery ARTDYNE Yoshiyuki Umehara Solo Exhibition "Mono-to Watashi"
Yoshiyuki Umehara, born in 1997, graduated from Tama Art University in 2020 with a major in oil painting, and is one of the hottest young artists based in Chiba Prefecture.
Umehara uses a painting knife to apply layers of paint to a primed canvas, creating a massive surface that makes the viewer aware of the painting¡Çs existence as a material. The borders and layers, which are hardly smooth, convey the materiality of the paint even more directly, appealing to us with the allure of the raw mass of the painting. Umehara¡Çs words, ¡ÈI paint faces that emerge spontaneously from things and landscapes,¡É strongly suggest his deep attachment to the motifs and his warm eye, as well as the peculiar way he perceives ¡Èthings¡É. In this exhibition, 11 of his latest works will be on display and for sale. We sincerely hope that you will take this opportunity to view and appreciate them.
