21_21 DESIGN SIGHT Gallery 3 "beyond form GUSHA GUSHA, KUSHA KUSHA"
Using "GUSHA GUSHA" and "KUSHA KUSHA," the bags of IM MEN which are presented as finished forms that allows it to change into many different shapes, this exhibition aims to communicate how intuitively pleasing the material is to handle, the fundamental aesthetics behind it, and the ambition to achieve something inherent that goes beyond functionality and form. 5 creators from a wide cross-section of artistic disciplines worked with those items; gripping, smashing, twisting, and wadding the bags into a series of works that communicate their wild, formless nature -ambiguous outlines and definitions even while maintaining a basic, intuitive shape.

Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo is pleased to present Yoshiaki Kaihatsu: ART IS LIVE―Welcome to One Person Democracy, the first major exhibition dedicated to Yoshiaki Kaihatsu (1966–) held at a museum in Tokyo. Since the beginning of his career in the 1990s, the artist has devoted himself to artistic activities that involve and provoke communication, with underlying interest in familiar events, such as everyday life and social occurrences.

Art Tower Mito Special Exhibition "Mai Yamashita + Naoto Kobayashi: To Others, and Together With Others"
Mai Yamashita + Naoto Kobayashi, an art duo active in Japan and internationally, focus on video works and installations that explore relationships with nature, portraying it as an uncontrollable and uncertain force. Their art often transforms everyday trivialities into miraculous events, subtly altering viewers’ perspectives and values, and even changing their worldview. This exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of Yamashita + Kobayashi’s diverse expressions and practices, including early works and pieces never before shown in Japan. A new participatory project featuring large flower beds will be set up in Art Tower Mito’s outdoor plaza. Amidst global conflicts and the recent visualization of human-nature precariousness through disasters and pandemics, the exhibition invites viewers to reconsider their relationships with "others" and reflect on their existence.

Kamakura Annex Collection Exhibition "Goya — The Caprices / The Disasters of War: Prints from the Museum Collection”
Francisco de Goya (1746–1828) is considered a pioneer of modern painting, recognized for his piercing depictations of humanity. In his late forties, unsatisfied with his success as a court painter in Spain and after losing his hearing, he turned to printmaking to pursue his creative vision. This exhibition will present a complete collection of the prints from Goya's two major print series, The Caprices and The Disasters of War, presented separately for the first and second half of the exhibition. We also trace the museum's extensive history of exhibitiong Spanish prints through related works and documents shedding light on how Goya was received by Japanese audiences.

Nihonbashi Takashimaya "Tanaka Tatsuya Exhibition: MINIATURE LIFE MITATE MIND"
Tanaka Tatsuya's "MINIATURE LIFE MITATE MIND" exhibition will be held at Nihonbashi Takashimaya SC Main Building's 8th floor hall from August 1st to 28th, 2024. Renowned for his imaginative miniature photography, Tanaka Tatsuya has been sharing his art on Instagram through his "MINIATURE CALENDAR" since 2011. His work creatively reimagines everyday objects into whimsical scenes, such as turning round glasses into bicycles and ice cream into wedding dresses, often with clever wordplay. This exhibition marks Tanaka's first showcase in Japan, featuring around 160 miniature pieces divided into seven themes: "HOME," "FORM," "COLOR," "SCALE," "MOTION," "LIFE," and "WORLD." The display also includes characters from popular picture books and large-scale photo spots. Visitors are encouraged to photograph the art, as all works are available for photography.

Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum "De Chirico Exhibition"
The Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum will host the "De Chirico Exhibition" from April 27 to August 29, 2024. Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978), a prominent 20th-century artist, is renowned for his "metaphysical paintings," which feature surreal landscapes and still lifes. These works, which began around 1910, have significantly impacted various artists and art movements. Felix Gonzalez-Torres' masterpiece "Untitled" (America #3) newly acquired and on display for the first time
The Pola Museum of Art is excited to present Felix Gonzalez-Torres' iconic piece, "Untitled" (America #3), newly acquired and displayed for the first time. This work will be featured in the "Pola Museum of Art Collection Selections" exhibition starting Wednesday, July 24th.
About the Artwork
"Untitled" (America #3) (1992) is part of Gonzalez-Torres' "Light Strings" series, which consists of an electrical cord with 42 light bulbs strung together. Alongside his famous Candy series, this piece is considered one of his masterpieces. The light bulbs used are everyday items that are replaced as they burn out, symbolizing the passage of time, loss, and the end of life.

Artist Profile
Felix Gonzalez-Torres (1957-1996) was born in Cuba and primarily worked in New York. Influenced by 1960s movements like minimalism, he created diverse works that often used everyday objects such as light bulbs, clocks, mirrors, and candy, and incorporated public signage, encouraging audience interaction.

KOTARO NUKAGA Three Inoue Nanami solo exhibition ‘Fish don't know they're in water’
KOTARO NUKAGA Three is pleased to present ‘Fish don’t know they’re in water’ a solo exhibition by Nanami Inoue, from July 20 to September 7. This is Inoue’s second solo show at the gallery, following ‘Maybe so, maybe not’ in 2022, and will feature “Rim,” a new series of beaded drawings, works in her most notable series “SUHU,” which feature repetitively drawn straight lines that create the appearance of grid paper, and pieces from her “A drawing for the frontside and backside” series.
