International Architecture Scholarship “Gottfried Bohm Scholarship” Now Open for Applications

Under the patronage of the City of Cologne, the "Gottfried Böhm Scholarship" is now accepting applications until May 31, 2025. This scholarship is designed for architects and urban planners with a strong interest in the relationship between architecture and urban development. Selected scholars will participate in a one-year residency program in Cologne from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, where they will explore the future of the city and its surroundings through innovative research and design.

After the application deadline, a panel of experts will review submissions and invite selected candidates to present their project proposals.

Scholarship Activities
Participate in a one-year residency program in Cologne, conducting research on architecture and urban planning.

Support Provided
Free accommodation and a workspace in a creative environment.
A monthly grant of €2,500.

The scholarship is offered and managed by the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences (Verein der Freunde und Förderer der Technischen Hochschule Köln e.V.).
Scholars receive professional guidance from renowned mentors.
An advisory committee provides additional support throughout the program.

Final Presentation and Exhibition

At the conclusion of the scholarship, a final presentation event will be hosted by Mayor Henriette Reker in collaboration with TH Köln and the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. Following the presentation, the results of the urban planning research will be exhibited for two weeks in the Atrium of the Spanish Building.

The "Gottfried Böhm Scholarship" is a program offered by the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Cologne University of Applied Sciences in collaboration with TH Köln and the City of Cologne. Mayor Henriette Reker serves as the official patron of the scholarship. Founded in 1978, the association has been dedicated to promoting science and research by providing funding and resources.
