【Deadline Approaching】ADF Design Award 202524 08 19 UP NPO Aoyama Design Forum (ADF) is pleased to announce the 15th edition of the ADF Design Award 2025, an international design award organized by ADF. Award applications will be accepted from Thursday 15 August to Friday 20 December 2024 (JST). There will be a Grand Prize of USD30,000 and two Awards of Excellence of USD5,000 from all categories, for approximately USD50,000.

ADF Art Gallery Project Vol.28 Issho Watanabe Solo Exhibition “Atomic Love -Transience of Life - ”24 08 06 UP ADF (NPO Aoyama Design Forum) is pleased to present “Atomic Love - Transience of Life -,” the 28th exhibition of the “ADF Art Gallery Project” by artist Issho Watanabe, which celebrates the preciousness of everyday life, from Sunday 18 August to Friday 30 August 2024. The exhibition will be held from Sunday, 18 to Friday, 30 August 2024. The exhibition will feature works that remind us of the gratitude and preciousness of the everyday life surrounding us. While the storytellers of war experiences are becoming rare as we approach the 80th anniversary of the war, the composition of the exhibition reaffirms the irreplaceability of the ordinary through thinking about the reality of war in the peaceful Japan of 2025. Please pay attention to the message of the artist, who, as an artist and a member of the young generation living in today's peaceful Japan, practices what he can do to "prevent the repetition of mistakes."

【ADF Web Magazine】“French Kitsch III”, a French Patisserie in Thailand by TOUCH Architect24 07 30 UP A design studio TOUCH Architect unveiled a French patisserie "French Kitsch III". Apart from being a specialized French patisserie, the owner’s love for French bulldogs also comes as brand identity, portraying a playful yet elegant image to the cafe. The design aims to enhance this image together with the concept of ‘Kitsch’, a form of art that appreciates imperfection through architecture elements and materials, which refers to an imperfect shape of ‘croissant’.

The “Sustainable Private House” category awards private housing projects that incorporate sustainable systems and materials, and follow best practices within ethical design, construction, and operation. The “Architecture+Innovation” category is dedicated to projects that unlock new ways to build, including incorporating new, experimental, or unconventional design concepts and materials, or that rethink traditional approaches in pioneering ways. Both awards testify to the importance of the Living Places project on the global architecture scene.

Luxe Lakes CPI Island: The Average Temperature and Subtle Scenery Between Islands24 07 22 UP The Luxe Lakes CPI Island Commercial Renewal Project is a collection of villa models located on the east side of Luke Island in the "Luxe Lakes Ecological City" of Chengdu. More than 20 former Luxe Lakes Villa models have been located on the island. CPI Island needs a revitalized urban renewal and commercial iteration to reset the idle old properties on these islands, activate the connection between waterfront, human habitation, and commerce.

UAD designed Villagers' Home in Wanghu Village24 07 02 UP In the context of rural revitalization, the construction of public spaces in rural areas is being extensively advocated. Many renewal practices, however, overlook the unique living environment and regional characteristics of rural areas, neglect the exploration of local village culture and the social aspect of public spaces. This had led to the destruction of the original state of the villages, the erasure of their historical memory, and ultimately the loss of precious indigenous cultural resources in rural areas.

【ADF Web Magazine】Padovani Arquitetos Unveils Vacation Home “Valencia House” in the Brazilian Countryside24 06 25 UP To meet the demands and program established by the client, Padovani Arquitetos completed a vacation home that reflects the need for spacious and welcoming areas to host friends and family. Emphasis was placed on the harmonious integration between indoor and outdoor spaces, creating an atmosphere of seamless and enjoyable socializing. Comprising seven suites, the house offers the comfort and privacy necessary for guests. Additionally, essential recreational areas were incorporated, such as a pool for relaxation, and a gym for physical activities. The project aims to blend functionality, aesthetics, and comfort, fully meeting the client's expectations and needs.

Daminghu 100 Culture & Arts Centre by TAOA24 06 10 UP It's a building renovation project. In an old traditional neighborhood, the base is located on the south shore of Jinan DaMing Lake. The building has been transformed from offices and a hotel into an artistic and cultural complex, opening up to the city with a simple and distinctive personality, reuniting the natural landscape of lake and the lakeside historical and cultural district, activating and bringing new vitality to this historic city.
